I am

Ken Price - Riverside, Illinois.

A resident of the suburban midwest, I live near Salt Creek and the Des Plaines river.

Here, industry, commerce and family homes alternate with varying degrees of wilderness.

I enjoy observing this setting, and people in their various modes of being.

Painting what inspires me from daily experience is my interest.

As a viewer, humanity is revealed to me in brushwork and mark-making.

In drawings, I favor expressive gesture from observation, without tracing or mechanical aids.

Naive art appeals to me for sincerity and lack of ego. Photorealism or Trompe-l'œil are not my aesthetic.

I look for beauty, nostalgia, humor and spirituality.

"The poetry of the earth is never dead." — John Keats

'“Salt Creek Painter” is in my title so that I might be easier to remember & find, also to differentiate from the great American artist of the same name.
