1960s Wurlitzer 140B Restored

This electric piano was a plumber’s basement find. No original pictures.

No legs, pedal, or front case lid.

Original color beige, mostly worn off.

Beneath the key-bed, congealed red sludge coated the floor.

Scraped and cleaned.

Removed, sanded and polished keys.

Piano action tightened, repaired as needed. Replaced and leveled keys.

Replaced broken tines, removed sustain blocks at the treble end.

Vibrato light bulb replaced with Light Emitting Diode.

Electrolytic capacitors replaced with modern, atop old capacitor mounts.

Ground off loose shielding paint on lid.

Cut music ledge back half an inch, built shorter book rest.

Refinished in hammered black and olive green.

Adapted generic wooden table legs to fit.
